THE HENRY MAYERS COMPANY

Davis Elen dates back to the 1940s when the grandfather of present-day CEO Mark Davis formed the Henry Mayers Company, becoming the first ad agency west of the Mississippi. The firm quickly became a national powerhouse, largely through its work for Sears Roebuck & Co.

DAVIS, JOHNSON, MOGUL & COLOMBATTO

In the late ’50s, Henry turned over the company reins to four partners, led by Mark’s father, Robert “Bob” Davis, and Robert “Collie” Colombatto. With their patented “making clients rich and famous” motto and donning President/Odd Days and President/ Even Days titles, Bob and Collie forged a reputation for the agency, now renamed Davis, Johnson, Mogul & Colombatto (a/k/a DJMC),as one of the hottest shops in town.

DAVIS, BALL & COLOMBATTO

In the ‘80s, Mark, following in his dad’s footsteps, took the agency helm, partnering with creative director Brad Ball to form Davis, Ball & Colombatto (a/k/a DBC). Mark and Brad spearheaded some of the agency’s most iconic work: “Mac Tonight” for McDonald’s and the “Eggs in Jail” concept for the California Egg Commission.

DAVIS ELEN

When Brad left to join the McDonald’s corporate world, Mark reached out to Bob Elen, a former DJMC account director, to rejoin the firm, becoming the agency we are today: Davis Elen (a/k/a DE). With Bob Elen’s recent retirement, present-day DE continues the dynamic legacy set in motion by its founders and heirs.
